As you all may know, Donald Sterling was banned for life from the NBA and fined $2.5 million for his racist comments that were caught on audio this pass week. Although there is no news if he will sell the team or not, the nation of team holders are urging him to do so. If the team is put up for sell, there are a list of celebrities interested in making an investment
Lady O has announced her interest in owning the LA team. Her spokesperson, Nicole Nichols, gave a statement on Wednesday letting everyone know: “Oprah Winfrey is in discussions with David Geffen and Larry Ellison to make a bid for the Los Angeles Clippers should the team become available.”
Although she wouldn’t be interested in actually running the team, she will be the primary owner. On the other hand, her business partners Geffen and Ellison would handle all of the hands on work, something they both would love to do.
Adding to the list, Floyd Mayweather has announced his interest and so did Diddy.
Although they have not spoken about doing a partnership publicly, they have been noted to announce they interest at the same time of each other. Maybe they will come up with a plan so they both can make money. You never know when it comes to Diddy. He may get the purchase and turn the arena into the Ciroc Center.
Ricky Rozay hasn’t said much about buying the team, just a tweet that read: “I’d be interested in investing in @LAclippers !!!! Make It #WingstopArena @WingstopCEO Lets Goooo !!!”
Although I don’t think he has the chances against Oprah or Diddy, money talks so we shall see what happens once the team is actually up on the auction block.
Ending the list of celebs interested in taking the Clippers off the hands of Sterling, Dr. Dre has publicly said he’s “absolutely thinking about it.” In an interview with TMZ he told Harvey that his views are the same as Snoop Dogg and he will love to take the team due to him being from California.
Although Donald Sterling has not came forth on wether he will sell the team or not, there is people prepping for that day. Many people are disgusted by his actions and like the players themselves, although still in the playoffs, are boycotting the franchise. The NBA is looking for a way to reassure the Clippers are no longer in the hands of Sterling and we will keep you all posted on who the new owner will become once everything is said and done.
